Position Summary

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture
- Working knowledge of shipbuilding rules and regulations, as well as classification society and Coast Guard requirements
- Propulsion and steering design knowledge
- Competency in AutoCAD and Rhino
- Knowledge of AutoHydro (or GHS)
- Valid driver's license, US passport, and TWIC card (or ability to obtain)
- Currently working in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in the maritime industry
- Familiarity with machinery and systems aboard commercial ships, workboats, tug/barges, passenger vessels, and yachts
- Experience with shipyard newbuild or repair engineering and construction
- Understanding of marine structural engineering
- Experience with class and USCG submittal and approval process
- Experience with Rhino or ShipConstructor software
Responsibilities
- Work within a small company atmosphere with other marine engineers, naval architects, and designers to solve engineering challenges
- Engage in projects including newbuild and refit designs for various types of vessels such as ships, yachts, tugs, pleasure boats, and passenger vessels
- Create engineering drawings for both new construction and refit projects
- Manage projects, including creating work scopes and schedules, communicating with clients, coordinating technical vendors, and attending project meetings
- Handle the class and regulatory submittal, review, and approval process
- Perform travel and fieldwork as required, ensuring safe work practices aboard ships and in shipyard environments, including climbing ladders and navigating walkways, gangways, and confined spaces
