Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated In-House Employment/HR Lawyer to provide expert legal counsel on all employment-related matters within our organization. This role will involve advising management on employment law, overseeing employee disputes, and ensuring our business practices comply with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in employment law, excellent negotiation skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and legal counsel to management on employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Review, draft, and revise company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Make recommendations to the Executive Team and coordinate with outside counsel on employment litigation matters.
- Navigate and provide recommendations to the Executive Team regarding the resolution of employee disputes and complaints.
- Assist in negotiating and drafting employment contracts, severance agreements, and other employment-related documents.
- Advise the Executive Team on disciplinary matters, terminations, and other sensitive employment issues.
- Conduct training sessions for HR, management, and employees on employment laws and policies.
- Stay current on changes to employment laws and regulations and inform relevant parties of any potential impact on the organization.
- Work closely with HR and management to strategically plan for potential legal impacts of proposed business changes.
- Update and maintain the employee manual as needed.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active Florida Bar License.
- Five to ten years of proven experience as an Employment Lawyer, preferably in a corporate or business setting.
- Extensive knowledge of employment laws and legal procedures.
- Experience in employee complaints/disputes, dispute resolution, and litigation processes.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to interpret and explain complex legal language.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret laws and regulations and provide practical legal advice.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate complex legal concepts, negotiate contracts, and represent the organization in legal proceedings.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in legal documents and advice.
- Interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal stakeholders, external counsels, and regulatory bodies.
- Strategic thinking and judgment to help the organization avoid potential legal risks.
