Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and motivated Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing modeling and simulation solutions to support defense projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement modeling and simulation solutions to support defense projects, including aircraft systems, weapon systems, and mission planning.
- Design and develop simulation models, scenarios, and environments using modeling and simulation software tools.
- Conduct simulations and analyze simulation results to assess system performance, identify issues, and inform decision-making.
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to define simulation requirements and objectives, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Validate and verify simulation models against real-world data and observations, and refine models as needed to improve accuracy and reliability.
- Provide technical expertise and support to project teams and stakeholders on modeling and simulation best practices, techniques, and methodologies.
- Document simulation processes, methodologies, and results, and prepare technical reports and presentations for project reviews and presentations.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in modeling and simulation, and apply them to project work.
- Support other engineering and technical activities as needed to support project objectives and deliverables.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in modeling and simulation, preferably in a defense or aerospace environment.
- Proficiency in modeling and simulation software tools, such as MATLAB, Simulink, or AFSIM.
- Strong understanding of modeling and simulation principles, techniques, and methodologies.
- Experience with aircraft systems, weapon systems, or other defense-related systems and technologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience with high-fidelity simulation tools and techniques, such as constructive simulation, virtual simulation, or gaming simulation.
- Familiarity with simulation interoperability standards and protocols, such as HLA and DIS.
- Knowledge of aircraft dynamics, flight mechanics, and aerodynamics principles.
- Previous experience with modeling and simulation of mission planning processes and decision support systems.
- Certification in modeling and simulation or related field (e.g., DAWIA Modeling and Simulation Certification).
