Housing and Consumer Law Staff Attorney

About the Role
We are currently seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to join our Housing and Consumer Unit, which advocates for low-income clients facing challenges such as eviction, foreclosure, debt, and more. The role involves providing legal services in areas such as housing, landlord/tenant disputes, evictions, foreclosures, utilities, public benefits, consumer issues, and other civil matters. Services include legal advice, brief services, and full court representation.
Responsibilities
• Represent clients in housing, consumer, and other civil law cases
• Provide legal advice and assistance in various areas of law
• Prepare and deliver client and community education materials
• Conduct client intake, outreach, and serve in administrative and judicial forums
• Participate in special legal and community projects
• Collaborate with attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners
Qualifications
• Must be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar
• 1-3 years of practice experience on housing and consumer law preferred, but not required
• Experience working with low-income individuals or marginalized communities is a plus
• Awareness and sensitivity to the needs of underserved populations
• Ability to thrive in a high-stress environment
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bilingual skills are a plus
Pay range and compensation package
• Starting salary: $74,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
