We are seeking a Director of Construction Emergency Services for a restoration company in Virginia Beach, VA. The Director will lead, manage, and hold accountable all employees in the Emergency Services Department from Virginia Beach to Richmond. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction and emergency mitigation knowledge. They will develop, create, and maintain all systems and processes to support the department's growth. The director will work directly with the leadership team to accomplish all short-term and long-term goals assigned to the Emergency Services Department with clear and consistent communication, strong attention to detail, and persistent follow-up.
Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Provide strategic leadership to align the department with company goals of profitability, communication, and quality work.
Collaborate with the leadership team to establish and achieve a clear vision and roadmap for future growth.
Analyze department data to set financial goals and drive sustainable growth.
Mentor and guide employees and department leaders to achieve professional development objectives.
Crisis Preparedness & Risk Management
Identify risks, conduct regular assessments, and develop detailed contingency plans to ensure organizational readiness.
Oversee business continuity planning to safeguard operations and revenue during emergencies.
Make swift, effective decisions to coordinate responses across all locations.
Operations Management
Oversee daily department operations, optimizing processes and performance.
Streamline resource allocation, including personnel, tools, and time.
Maintain industry standards in mitigation, demolition, drying, and documentation processes.
Process Development & Implementation
Develop and implement processes and procedures to meet department goals and enhance efficiency.
Leverage software systems to expand growth opportunities.
Ensure accountability for vehicle and equipment maintenance to support peak performance.
Team Development & Training
Create and oversee training programs to prepare staff for routine and large-scale crises.
Conduct performance reviews and hold team members accountable using EOS processes.
Facilitate team-building events to foster collaboration and morale.
Lead Level 10 meetings to address and resolve departmental issues effectively.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as the primary point of contact with leadership, ensuring the department's accountability and reliability.
Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, staff, and trade partners.
Communicate effectively with adjusters, homeowners, and other stakeholders.
Safety & Compliance
Develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure compliance and job site safety.
Additional Responsibilities
Attend and host workshops, lectures, and training sessions to promote professional growth.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
A minimum of 5 years of leadership in a multi-location operational business is required.
5 years of experience in the construction industry or civil engineering, with a strong understanding of construction processes and equipment, is required.
Experience with construction standards and processes pertaining to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs.
Emergency mitigation knowledge is preferred.
Skilled in using modern technology and project management tools, including MS Office, Xactimate, DocuSketch, and MICA.
In-depth understanding of construction project management principles, including planning, execution, and closure of timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Display a can-do mindset and willingness to go above and beyond for clients and team members.
Proven ability to effectively lead, motivate, and manage teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills for interacting with clients, team members, vendors, and stakeholders.
Effective organizational and documentation skills to maintain accurate records of progress, costs, and communication.
Attention to detail to ensure all project aspects are covered with precision to avoid oversights.
Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple people and projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills to quickly address issues and implement effective solutions.
Work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve fair agreements and positive results.
