Position Summary

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will drive growth by leading strategic initiatives to identify, develop, and capitalize on new business opportunities. This role encompasses overseeing the business development team, establishing high-level partnerships, and shaping market strategy to achieve ambitious growth targets. The Manager will work closely with senior leadership to align business development strategies with overall company goals and will be instrumental in expanding market presence and achieving long-term success.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development:

  • Formulate and implement strategic plans to capitalize on new business opportunities and forge impactful partnerships.
  • Evaluate market trends, customer requirements, and competitive landscapes to guide strategy and stimulate growth.
  • Spearhead the development and presentation of high-level business proposals to stakeholders and decision-makers.

Lead Generation And Qualification

  • Manage and optimize the lead generation and qualification processes in collaboration with the sales development team.
  • Design and execute strategies to prioritize and convert high-value leads into meaningful business engagements.
  • Cultivate a team culture focused on excellence in lead management and conversion.

Relationship Management

  • Establish, maintain, and enhance strategic relationships with high-value clients and industry collaborators.
  • Act as a senior advisor to clients, addressing their needs and delivering mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Oversee key account management to ensure client satisfaction and identify additional collaboration opportunities.

Team Leadership And Development

  • Guide, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Business Development Managers and Sales Development Representatives.
  • Partner with sales, marketing, and product teams to ensure business development efforts align with overarching goals.
  • Promote a collaborative atmosphere that encourages innovation and effective problem-solving.

Market Intelligence And Reporting

  • Conduct detailed market research to uncover new opportunities and emerging trends that support strategic objectives.
  • Deliver strategic insights and recommendations to the executive team, informed by market analysis and client input.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics, such as pipeline health, deal conversion rates, and revenue growth.

Sales Strategy And Execution

  • Craft and execute impactful sales strategies to achieve growth goals and strengthen market presence.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of persuasive presentations and pitches to prospective clients and partners.
  • Drive high-level negotiations and secure favorable agreements and long-term partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • Over 7 years of experience in sales, business development, or similar roles, ideally in a B2B setting.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build and engage relationships effectively.
  • Highly proactive, self-motivated, and focused on achieving results.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite) and sales prospecting tools.
  • Strong aptitude for articulating complex products or services to B2B clients.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Relevant industry experience (e.g., tech, SaaS, manufacturing) aligned with the target market.
  • Expertise in lead generation practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with account-based marketing (ABM) and sales methodologies.
  • Skilled in using LinkedIn Sales Navigator and other prospecting platforms.

Position Type / Expected Hours Of Work

This full-time role typically requires a 40-hour workweek, with additional hours as necessary to support business operations. Eligible employees may qualify for hybrid or remote work arrangements based on performance and location. Up to 50% travel may be required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands listed are indicative of those necessary for successful job performance. Employees must frequently communicate effectively and have the capacity to sit or stand for extended periods (8 hours). Occasional lifting of 25-50 lbs. may be required.
