Manager of Mergers and Acquisitions
SUMMARY
This position is with a private equity-backed residential and commercial field services platform. The Manager of M&A will report to the VP of M&A and be responsible for supporting various aspects of the company’s acquisition efforts, contributing to the full lifecycle of mergers and acquisitions with a focus on deal execution with a main focus on due diligence deal making and process flow.
Geography
This company is based in lower New York with a service reach throughout the Northeastern United States. The ideal candidate will be located in the northeast but can work permanently remote with a heavy travel load.
Primary Responsibilities
• Support the VP of M&A and drive corporate development efforts by analyzing addressable markets and collaborating with business unit leaders to update strategies.
• Actively identify and source acquisition targets, fostering relationships with brokers and business owners to build a robust deal pipeline aligned with company objectives.
• Articulate the company’s vision and value to potential acquisition targets, cultivating meaningful relationships with business owners.
• Develop detailed business cases and valuation models for potential transactions, incorporating financial and operational insights.
• Identify and quantify synergy opportunities with potential acquisitions, creating actionable plans to maximize post-close value.
• Lead M&A transactions from the LOI through the due diligence process, ensuring alignment with integration plans and strategic goals.
• Gather, analyze, and translate key information on risks and opportunities into actionable insights to inform valuation and deal structure.
• Regularly interact with third-party advisors, including legal, financial, tax, and consulting experts, to facilitate smooth deal processes.
• Support deal structuring and negotiation efforts in collaboration with senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Participate in post-acquisition integration efforts, ensuring smooth transitions and the realization of strategic goals.
Required Education & Competencies
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 3-6 years of hands-on experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, consulting, or private equity with a proven track record of results.
• Expertise in financial modeling and valuation techniques, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable presentations.
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills to evaluate opportunities and mitigate risks effectively.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
