Description:
Job Title: Medical Technologist, Contract
Pay: $50/hr
Start: 5/5/2025 End: 8/2/2025 with possible extension
Location: Austin, TX 78717 Onsite
Schedule Options:
A: 4 10-hour shifts: Wed-Sat 9 PM-7:30 AM, general lab
B: 8 nights on and 6 days off 9 PM-7:30 AM, blood bank
Duties:
• Determines suitability of specimens and orders by verifying patient demographic information, receipt documentation, and
recognizing and troubleshooting erroneous, inconsistent and special orders.
• Organizes and prioritizes the workload so that services are provided as needed and requested by the medical staff avoiding
repetition of work and incident reports as documented in records and observed by the supervisor.
• Performs routine and special procedures accurately according to policy and procedure manuals; evaluates results for
correctness; recognizes abnormal test results and performs appropriate problem solving procedures in a timely manner as
documented in section records.
• Provides age appropriate care by following established technical protocols based on age of patient, using appropriate
instrumentation, and reporting and interpreting results based on normal ranges.
• Responds to emergency situations and STATs quickly and provides the appropriate services needed without delay as
documented by turn-around-times and lack of incident reports.
• Assists other employees in troubleshooting specimen problems and errors and with the performance of workload in order to
meet established turnaround times.
• Communicates any quality control problems, exceptional patients, to the appropriate supervisor and/or professional staff
as they occur and maintains documentation of all clinical information by correctly entering data into the established
record keeping system evidenced by few omissions or corrections and monitored by supervisor.

Skills:
• Knowledge of laboratory operations.
• Ability to operate a PC and other equipment, including cell washers, blood analyzers, gamma cell irradiator, microscopes,
centrifuges, water baths, and agglutination viewers.
Education:
Required: Bachelor's Degree with one of the following certifications is required:
MT-STATE - Medical Tech. - Any State Or
MT-AAB - Medical Technologist- AAB American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB) Or
MT-AMT - Medical Technologist - AMT American Medical Technologists (AMT) Or
CLSP - Clinical Laboratory Specialist NCA Or
IMLS - Int'l Med Lab Scientist ASCP Or
BB-ASCP - Cert-Tech Blood Bank ASCP Or
C-ASCP - Cert-Technologist in Chemistry ASCP Or H-ASCP - Cert-Technologist Hematology ASCP Or
MLS-ASCP - Cert-Medical Lab Scientist ASCP Or
MT-ASCP - Cert-Medical Technologist ASCP Or
M-ASCP - Cert-Technologist Microbiology ASCP Or
