Job Description
- Primarily responsible for supporting, administering, and maintaining EMS upgrade systems through various testing cycles.
- Oversee the integration of EMS applications, including monitoring and regular maintenance activities.
- Perform structured and unstructured testing and log defects using defect tracking tools.
- Collaborate closely with business leads, project managers, and technical leads, providing timely updates and feedback.
- Work with EMS vendors and internal development teams to reproduce defects and test fixes.
- Support effective EMS use and administration by preparing and reviewing technical documentation.
- Perform code builds, patch implementations, and migrations in EMS systems.
- Set up and test EMS systems with Market Participants as needed.
- Respond to system failures and operator questions on a 24/7 basis.
- Collaborate with market participants to resolve issues and implement necessary changes.
- Perform emergency recovery and troubleshooting of EMS systems and applications.
- Maintain real-time data collection systems to support EMS functions.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain EMS systems, applications, and interfaces.
- Proactively identify design issues and drive their resolution.
- Participate in EMS disaster recovery drills and tests.
Job Skills Required
- Preferred experience with EMS systems such as GE EMS Suite or other EMS vendors like Hitachi/ABB, Siemens, OSI, or GE PowerOn Reliance.
- Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Inter Control-Center Communication Protocol (ICCP) is highly preferred.
- System administration on Linux/Windows operating systems
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL DB)
- Proficiency in EMS software suites (e.g., GE EMS Suite, Hitachi/ABB, Siemens, OSI, GE PowerOn Reliance)
- System monitoring and maintenance
- Troubleshooting and resolving system failures and defects
- Emergency recovery of EMS systems and applications
- Structured and unstructured testing of EMS systems
- Defect logging and tracking using defect management tools
- Collaboration with business leads, project managers, and technical teams
- Communication with EMS vendors to replicate and test defects
- Participation in disaster recovery drills and system recovery efforts
- Database updates and system upgrades
- Attention to detail and proactive problem identification

- Understanding of Inter Control-Center Communication Protocol (ICCP)
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in system administration on Linux/Windows operating systems and working with RDBMS (Oracle/SQL DB).
- Preferred experience with EMS systems such as GE EMS Suite or other EMS vendors like Hitachi/ABB, Siemens, OSI, or GE PowerOn Reliance.
- Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Inter Control-Center Communication Protocol (ICCP) is highly preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Preferred a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
