Job Title: Exhibit Builder
Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Exhibit Builder to join our team. As an Exhibit Builder, you will be responsible for constructing and assembling exhibits for museums, trade shows, galleries, and other events. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction techniques, craftsmanship, and a keen eye for detail to ensure that each exhibit is visually compelling, functional, and built to last.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construction & Assembly: Build and assemble exhibits using a variety of materials such as wood, metal, acrylic, and fabric, following blueprints or design specifications.
- Installation & Setup: Set up exhibits on-site at museums, trade shows, galleries, or other locations, ensuring proper alignment, stability, and safety.
- Collaboration: Work closely with designers, curators, and project managers to ensure that exhibits meet aesthetic and functional requirements.
- Tool & Equipment Operation: Operate power tools, hand tools, and other equipment necessary for the fabrication and assembly of exhibits.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on exhibits, ensuring they remain in top condition.
- Material Sourcing: Assist with sourcing materials and supplies necessary for exhibit construction.
- Safety: Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Problem-Solving: Address any challenges that arise during the building process, whether related to design, materials, or construction methods.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training or a degree in carpentry, industrial design, or related fields is a plus.
- Previous experience in exhibit construction, carpentry, or set design is highly preferred.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, and the ability to interpret design plans and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work on various types of exhibits (e.g., permanent installations or temporary displays).
Working Conditions:
- Work is typically done in a workshop setting, but also requires travel to installation sites.
- Regular lifting, bending, and the use of various construction tools and machinery will be part of the daily routine.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines or for event setup.
