Job Summary
The Mechanical CAD Designer will create designs and technical drawings for chemical dispense systems and blending equipment. Working closely with engineers and other professionals within the Project Engineering group, the successful candidate will contribute to the improvement of manufacturing systems and processes and develop high-quality drawings using SolidWorks for a variety of equipment.
Job Description
- Collaborate with all disciplines on project teams to meet schedules and project deliverables. Participate in design and safety reviews, status updates, and process documentation.
- Modify and create mechanical drawings from concepts and “red-lined” documents using SolidWorks. Implement standard mechanical design and documentation practices.
- Work alongside the engineering team to ensure customer specifications are accurately implemented.
- Specify and source mechanical components for equipment, and implement component selection standards.
- Create and review mechanical Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy and proper component selection.
- Interface with production employees to ensure high-quality manufacturing and adherence to "Best Practices" in the assembly area.
- Review and approve changes to mechanical manufacturing processes and standards.
- Initiate, update, and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Create and maintain high-level mechanical area layouts.
- Create and review mechanical manufacturing quality and testing procedures.
- Support final test teams to ensure equipment is fully tested before shipment.
- Assist with design reviews and project-related work as required.
- Assist with training manufacturing personnel.
Skills Required
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Proficient in reading, editing, and creating P&IDs, schematics, and other product documentation.
- Strong knowledge in manufacturing and assembly processes as they pertain to assigned products and projects.
- Proficient in tools required for engineering and project execution, including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Agile, and other engineering design systems.
- Knowledgeable about a broad range of tools applicable to decision-making and system improvements.
- SolidWorks certification preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality technical drawings.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to make design decisions based on system requirements and constraints.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 2 years of work experience in equipment or semi-related industries.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work on the manufacturing floor, where safety shoes and glasses are required.
