Title: Phlebotomist
Location: Grand Forks, ND 58201
Number of Weeks: 13
12-hour shift
Rate : $32.00 - $35.00 per hour
Shift: The hours are 7 scheduled shifts on and 7 scheduled shifts off. Wednesday-Wednesday hours are 5a-5:30p with the option to pick up 4-7 am shifts for overtime.
Job Description
- Performs patient identification and specimen labeling
according to standard operating procedures.
- Understands the phlebotomy processes and techniques in
order to obtain quality blood specimens to ensure that correct decisions
are made regarding specimen collection.
- Performs, interprets and reports point-of-care testing
(e.g. glucose) and quality control.
- Processes laboratory and patient reports according to
standard operating procedure, e.g. printing, recording, distributing,
faxing, filing, and retrieving.
- Recognizes problems, takes appropriate action,
documents problems and corrective action, and follows protocol to notify
the Supervisor of problems in a timely manner so as not to jeopardize
patient care.
- Actively communicates throughout the shift and manages
priority requests in a courteous and timely manner to ensure effective
department workflow. Follows up with STAT, ASAP, and Pre-op draws to
ensure turnaround times are met.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet
the needs of the department/organization.
Additional specialty certification/training as preferred by the work area:
- Emergency Department: Basic Life Support (BLS)within 90 Days of Start Date
