Applications Engineer (junior to mid-level)

Summary:
A well-established industrial equipment manufacturer is seeking an Applications Engineer to support equipment solutions across industrial ag and processing markets. This role involves working directly with customers to assess technical needs, recommend appropriate equipment, and develop accurate, detailed quotations. The applications engineering team is essentially the bridge between the customer, sales and all facets of the project itself.
The position is part of a technical applications team that works closely with customers across North America, providing support through phone, video, and on-site visits. The engineer will collaborate regularly with internal engineering and sales staff and may also assist with testing facilities in various regions, including international locations.
The Applications Engineer will be part of a collaborative technical team that supports customers across North America. The role involves providing technical guidance via phone, video, and in-person meetings, maintaining strong customer relationships, and working closely with internal engineering and commercial teams. Occasional involvement with testing and demonstration facilities—both domestic and international—may also be part of the role.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Support customers by providing technical and process-related guidance
• Recommend appropriate equipment solutions and prepare detailed quotes using SAP
• Build product knowledge and assist with troubleshooting when needed
• Manage requests with strong follow-up and timely execution
• Travel to customer sites and internal facilities for training, equipment startups, and industry events (domestic and international)
• Communicate clearly with leadership regarding project status, open items, and customer opportunities
• Maintain accurate records of quotes, contacts, and ongoing opportunities
• Represent the company in a professional manner at trade shows and events
Qualifications and Skills:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field preferred (relevant experience considered)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and explain technical processes
• Background in technical sales, customer service, or project coordination is a plus
• Exposure to agriculture or ag-related industries—whether through education, work, or hands-on experience—is beneficial
• High personal integrity and professional demeanor
• Willingness to travel up to 50%, including an international trip. Travel is expected to be lower, but up to 50% is possible. These would be mostly trips where you’re away for a day or two at a time.
• Any experience in the farming or ag community / industry is a plus (even if you worked as a farm hand at some point)
