Our client, a dynamic startup, is leading the charge in revolutionizing the water bottle and sparkling water industry with sustainable solutions. Committed to making a positive environmental impact, they are in search of a passionate and innovative Lead Product Development Engineer to join their team.
MUST HAVE :
6-8 years of relevant experience, BS / MS in mechanical engineer
Experience developing test plans & conducted tests to evaluate design performance. Experience conducting root cause analysis based on test results & incorporating learnings into designs
Expert at 3D modeling (preferably SolidWorks) , creating 2D drawings, tolerance analysis, conducting design reviews, and managing CAD part database (including rev control, BoMs)
Must have worked on consumer products in an ME capacity, i deally (nice to have) working on water bottle companies (Hydro Flask, Simple Modern, Brumate, Camelbak, yeti) or revered consumer brands (OXO, Dyson, etc)
Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturing principles. (DFM) just need knowledge of this. Not a huge must have
Experience taking products from concept to mass production
Understands design for manufacturing, manufacturing methods, and working with suppliers to refine manufacturability and assembleability.
Prior experience managing teams and developing / building engineers' technical skills
Worked alongside product management, industrial designers, & executive team
Nice to have : Experience designing with O-Rings, water / drinkware
Key Responsibilities :
Hands-On Contribution : Initially, the technical leader will be expected to be a hands-on individual contributor for at least the first six months. They should be willing to get involved in tasks such as product development, testing, and supplier interaction.
Go-To-Market Leadership : The technical leader will play a crucial role in leading the go-to-market efforts from an engineering perspective. This includes working closely with suppliers, managing product engineering, and collaborating with other teams, including product and design.
Product Development : Overseeing the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to mass production. This includes refining product design, ensuring manufacturability and assembleability, and conducting rigorous testing.
Supplier Relations : Working closely with suppliers to manage the production process
Design for Manufacturing : Applying design for manufacturing principles to ensure that the product is optimized for production efficiency.
Testing and Analysis : Developing and conducting test plans to evaluate design performance, including safety and lifecycle testing. Ability to perform root cause analysis based on test results is essential. When there this hundreds of thousands of products in the wild ensuring : safety, user experience, performance etc.
CAD Proficiency : Expertise in 3D modeling, creating 2D drawings, conducting tolerance analysis, managing CAD part databases, and maintaining rev control and (BoMs).
Collaboration : Working closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, industrial design, and executive leadership.
Industry Experience : Ideally, candidates should have experience in water bottle companies or related consumer brands. Experience with custom seals and water / drinkware design is a significant advantage.
