Middle School Teacher - ELA - Kid's Community College School - $47,500 - $57,500

HireUp Talent is partnering with our client in the Riverview area for a Middle School Teacher - ELA position.

Under the supervision of Campus Administration and team leads, Professors will develop, teach and instruct students in middle school academic subject matter, social, behavioral, and other educational skill areas; plan, develop, organize and conduct a comprehensive educational program for middle school level students; assist middle school level students in areas of personal and individual development; assist middle school level students in making appropriate life style adjustments, and in the determination of career and vocational choices.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

• Teach and instruct in intervention classes designed to close the academic achievement gap for students performing below grade level.
• Teach and instruct in Kid’s Community College® approved subject matter areas for comprehensive middle school education program.
• Utilize an adopted core course of study, instructional program guidelines, and other materials in planning and developing lesson plans and teaching outlines.
  
• Pursue a variety of thematic, differentiated, multiple intelligence oriented methodology in teaching and instructing students.
  
• Conduct teaching and instructional activities, using educational equipment, technology, handson materials, books, and other learning aids.
  
• Provides instruction in citizenship and character development.
  
• Plan, develop, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, and a range of mental and emotional maturity.
  
• Review, analyze and evaluate the history, background and assessment of students in designing instructional programs to meet individual educational needs.
  
• Individualize and adapt educational processes and procedures to enhance student educational opportunities.
  
• Provide group and individual instruction to motivate students, and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities.
  
• Maintain appropriate standards of student behavior, using behavioral management strategies and techniques, including positive reinforcement and behavior shaping procedures.
  
• Review, analyze, evaluate, and report student academic, social, and emotional growth.
  
• Prepare, administer, score, record, and report the results of criterion referenced tests, administer, score, record and report the results of group standardized tests in evaluating
  student growth and progress.
  
• Counsel, confer with and communicate with parents, school, Board and District personnel regarding student progress, and in the interpretation of the educational program. All communication should be responded to within 24 hours on workdays.
  
• Cooperatively pursue alternative solutions to ameliorate student-learning problems, and to enhance expanded academic, social and emotional growth opportunities.
  
• Maintain an effective learning environment through the utilization of exhibits, displays and independent study centers.
  
• Select and requisition appropriate educational supplies, materials, books, equipment, and learning aids.
  
• Perform a variety of non-instructional duties, including curriculum and instructional development activities, staff/Board/parent meetings, student supervision, and consultation activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with emphasis in education or the specific subject area being taught.
• Valid Florida Teaching Certificate
• Professional Certification in subject area as required by the Florida Course Code Directory
• Expertise in subject being taught as evidenced by personal skills and knowledge, an undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree in the subject they will teach, or direct subject-area teaching experience;
• Understanding of academic, social, and behavioral needs and characteristics of elementary students
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  

Knowledge of:

• Principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction of middle school level students;
• Academic, social, and behavioral characteristics of middle school level students
  
• Educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives, and educational trends and research findings pertaining to comprehensive middle school programming;
  
• Behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures;
  
• Socio-economic and cultural background differences of the school population
