Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our Richmond area office. The ideal candidate will have 0-3 years of experience, be licensed to practice law in a U.S. state (preference given to Virginia-licensed attorneys), and be fluent in Spanish. This is an in-office position that offers an excellent opportunity to grow your legal career in a collaborative environment. Local residency or willingness to relocate is required. Our firm specializes in family-based, business, and humanitarian immigration matters, helping clients navigate the complexities of U.S. immigration law. We do not handle removal defense in immigration courts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct client consultations to assess immigration needs and provide legal advice on family, business, and humanitarian immigration matters.
- Perform legal research and draft cover letters, legal briefs, and responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs).
- Review and edit immigration case packets prepared by paralegals to ensure accuracy and compliance with USCIS and other federal agency requirements.
- Prepare and file various types of immigration petitions and applications, including but not limited to family-based petitions, employment-based visas, and humanitarian applications such as asylum and U visas.
- Handle occasional court appearances in Virginia family courts (for Virginia-licensed attorneys)
- Stay informed on current developments and changes in immigration law to provide accurate advice and representation.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and paralegals to ensure efficient handling of cases.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state (preference for Virginia-licensed attorneys).
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- 0-3 years of experience practicing law, with exposure to immigration law preferred (internships, externships, or clinics in law school will be considered).
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\
