Automotive Technician – All Levels

Job Responsibilities

Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy

Diagnose vehicle problems and recommend appropriate repairs

Conduct routine maintenance services, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks

Perform complex mechanical repairs and diagnostic procedures (based on experience level)

Inspect vehicles and report findings to the service advisor

Maintain a clean and safe work area

Keep up to date with factory technical bulletins and training

Ensure all work complies with manufacturer standards and dealership policies
Requirements

Basic mechanical knowledge (for entry-level roles)

Strong diagnostic and repair skills (for mid- to senior-level techs)

Ability to use diagnostic equipment and hand tools

Excellent attention to detail and time management

Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable

ASE or manufacturer certifications are an asset (required for higher-level positions)
Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED required

Technical training or automotive certification preferred

0–2 years of experience for entry-level positions
-
3 years of experience for mid-level and senior technician roles
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
