Job Description
Work as part of a team having responsibility for selecting and processing rough lumber to achieve desired dimensions and profiles. Rough Out Area Woodworkers perform all tasks in the rough out process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Read and understand work orders and shop drawings to determine product specifications or material requirements.
· Identify wood species and understand their characteristics.
· Select proper lumber for parts to assure quality while using time and materials efficiently.
· Glue and clamp wood to make laminates, cores, and assemblies as required.
· Understand and safely operate machinery, such as: chop saws, table saws, joiner, planer, etc. to achieve adequately straight parts at the correct dimensions.
· Understand and safely set up and operate shapers and tennoners to apply varying profiles to parts as specified on shop drawings.
· Perform quality checks and inspect products and components throughout processes for accuracy, completeness, and compatibility to job specifications and company standards.
· Understand and use tape measures, calipers, and other measuring instruments and be able to convert between inches/feet to metric.
· Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries to themselves and others by following all safety regulations and procedures.
· Keep work area clean and organized.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of windows and doors.
· Use basic mathematics and scientific methods to solve problems.
· Understand how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment can affect outcomes.
· Communicate effectively and encourage a culture of mutual respect.
· Allow others to provide feedback and be open minded to changes and corrections.
· Ability to work with others on a team, face-to-face discussions with individuals repeating the same physical activities.
· Ability to safely operate woodworking tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires standing, bending, twisting, walking, repetitive movement, using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
