JOB SUMMARY & KEY OBJECTIVES:
The Hirzel Canning Company (HCC) Intra-Company Truck Driver is a highly regarded and dedicated professional driver who will be responsible for knowing and following all Federal Motor Carrier Safety and local regulations. A person in this role is required to ensure that they perform their work in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This person is also responsible for communication with internal contacts and their direct supervisor to ensure timely pickup and delivery of all shipments and to provide superior customer service at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Delivery of Goods
- Work closely with the Transportation Supervisor, following the prescribed weekly intra-company driver delivery schedule provided, and communicate any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner
- Follow all HCC policies while making deliveries to one of our company sites.
- Responsible to review all delivery orders and ensure appropriate information is recorded
- Responsible to meet all delivery times
Receiving Goods
- Work closely with HCC warehouse teams to ensure receipt of the correct material or product
- Responsible to review all pickup orders and ensure appropriate information is recorded
- Responsible to meet pick up times
Regulations and Record Keeping
- Responsible to follow all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)/DOT regulations
- Responsible to follow all on road signage
- Responsible to keep accurate driving records, whether using electronic logs or paper logs
- Responsible to carry the DOT-required information with them at all times
EMPLOYEE EXPECTATIONS
- Able to work Saturdays and Sundays when required (generally occurs during pack season)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a valid CDL Class “A” (air brakes) driver’s license
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug & alcohol screenings
- Must understand and know DOT requirements
- Must have at least one year of driving experience
- Must have a clean record and solid work history (Semi/Tractor Trailer)
- Good oral and written communication skills
