JOB SUMMARY

The 2035 Electives Coordinator in the Career and Technical Education department oversees the design and implementation of elective courses focusing on skills that students will need to be successful in 2035. The Coordinator will also provide resources to their unit to maximize the effectiveness of these courses, connecting them to the priorities of the division and the district as a whole.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work across departments within units and across the district to design elective courses, especially in the areas of technology and critical reasoning.
  • Work across departments to implement new elective courses, especially in the areas of technology and critical reasoning.
  • Work with unit to equip classrooms with the technologies necessary to have these courses.
  • Coordinate with other CTE staff to align courses with broader CTE pathways.
  • Develop tools and materials to support teachers and school administrators in effective pedagogy.
  • Develop metrics to help measure classroom efficacy.
  • Meet regularly with Unit leadership to analyze and interpret data, and coordinate activities.
  • Facilitate data collection to assist in processing baseline measures that track longitudinal trends.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED

  • Engage stakeholders, higher education, business, students, parents, and other community agencies in the development of initiatives relevant to 2035 electives.
  • Provide and attend professional development and specified training to enhance skills, instructional strategies, and course management.
  • Offer regular updates of program activities and services to appropriate audiences.
  • Collaborate with District departments and Unit to coordinate and implement programs that support the special needs of all student populations.
  • Perform all job-related duties as assigned and in accordance with Board rules, policies, and regulations. 
  • Provides general support for the work of the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

A minimum of two years of experience required in educational administrative or related campus level experience.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT
Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS

Collaborate and solve problems – works with others to resolve problems, clarify or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS

Leads others in the resolution of highly sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the department. Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer's decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems.
Monitors customer service standards.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.

Ability to carry and/or lift less than 45 pounds.
