JOB SUMMARY
A Curriculum PD SOR/RA Coordinator is pivotal in advancing Houston ISD's educational objectives forward, in alignment with Destination 2035, high quality resource expectations, and research-based literacy instruction. This role has dual foci: lead a Texas HB3 Reading Academies cohort and design, coordinate and deliver high-quality professional development sessions aligned to the Science of Reading.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Literacy Development: Formulate and execute deliverables in accordance with district literacy initiatives, emphasizing support with the science of reading and HB3 Reading Academies at the campus and district level.
- Alignment and Rigor: Support teachers with modules to ensure compliance with HB3 Reading Academies and score submissions.
- Professional Development: Design and deliver professional development sessions focused on district literacy initiatives (Science of Reading) and alignment to NES model.
- Customized Support: Provide teachers with individualized support with state required HB3 Reading Academies certification.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
- Collaboration: Collaborate with curriculum leaders to gather insights, share expertise, and foster innovation in curriculum design for K-3 and SOR.
- Expertise: Research and support district, state, and federal literacy initiatives and requirements.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years working in the district/central office of a large urban school district

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.
