JOB SUMMARY
The Data Science and Analytics Coordinator supports Houston ISD's Office of Academics by designing, implementing, and managing advanced analytical projects that enhance strategic planning and address the district's diverse needs. This role focuses on transforming complex data into actionable insights through rigorous analysis and visualization, delivering impactful outcomes for students, families, and staff.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manages data projects from concept to completion by gathering stakeholder requirements, defining objectives, deliverables, and timelines. Oversees project milestones for timely delivery while maintaining effective communication and providing ongoing maintenance, user support, and enhancements to sustain outcomes.
2. Applies statistical tools and techniques to analyze complex datasets and generate actionable insights. Utilizes software such as Excel, R, and Python to perform tasks including regression analysis, time series forecasting, and machine learning. Conducts analyses to develop solutions, recommendations, and findings that empower /leadership to make data-driven decisions and drive system improvements.
3. Designs and manages ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data into analytical tools or reporting platforms such as R, Excel, or Power Bl. Ensures data quality, consistency, and readiness for advanced statistical analysis or decision support. Collaborates with stakeholders to integrate cleaned and structured data into relevant data repositories for seamless use in modeling and forecasting.
4. Designs and develops analytical dashboards and visualizations using Power Bl to uncover insights and support strategic decision-making. Focuses on translating complex data analyses into accessible, impactful visual narratives that highlight trends, correlations, and actionable opportunities. Emphasizes deep data exploration, comparative analysis, and innovative visualization techniques to address stakeholder needs and inform leadership decisions.

7. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Work Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.
