JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for managing, planning, overseeing and coordinating the work of custodial division of Operations. (i.e., custodians, plant operators), Establishes relationship and communication with district’s offices and school principals. Develops and implements program to ensure proper training of all personnel. Approves all custodial schedules relevant to opening and closing facilities and
providing a clean and safe environment. Oversees the daily crossing guard operations supporting the mandate of "Safety Above All Else" in the care, protection, and well-being of students navigating streets to and from schools within the district to comply with federal, state, city, and district regulations and guidelines.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plans, manages, coordinates, trains and controls the activities of the Operations Site Team Leads, Plant Operators, and Custodians for approximately 75 plus facilities. Addresses employee issues and enforces board policy and procedures and safety regulations. Manages department to ensure adequate response to emergencies whether equipment failures or natural disasters. Interpret building, fire codes, and inform staff to ensure conformity, avoid citations, and provide safe
facilities. Oversees performance reviews, inventory control, disbursement, attendance, weekly summaries, and other personnel-related support.
• Monitors consumption of custodial supplies and products of each facility to reduce pilferage and ensure adequate stock on hand to meet schedules. Provides an action plan and updates as necessary.
• Maintains all work-related records, files, and correspondence, including payroll, inventory control, mileage, and computer tracking system for crossing guard personnel. Updates procedural training manuals in compliance with CALEA and other safety standards of both the district and the department.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
• Develops system specifications and state-of-the art work practices and standards as it relates to custodial maintenance. Researches and develops procedures to streamline operations in the Crossing Guard Division. Coordinates a safety-enhanced environment for students by working with the division team to develop contingencies and prioritizes tasks to mitigate risks to children. Maintains good public relations with area schools and their personnel.
• Monitors the use and cost of labor and material within the area under his/her direction and effectively manages budgets. Reconfigures resources on an as needed basis to provide the most productive output from available resources. Establishes standards and policy for installment, modifications, quality control testing, operating procedures and inspections.
• Participates in and coordinates training for assigned personnel. Develops programs and methods for continual upgrading management skills for supervisory staff.
• Serves as a liaison between the Crossing Guard Division, the Plant Operators, Custodians, the public area schools, and their personnel.

Vocational/Technical/Business School
Bachelor's Degree preferred

Prior Custodial/Crossing Guard experience
SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Microsoft Office; Microsoft Office Bilingual preferred; SAP; Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier) 3rd grade Engineer knowledgeable; 1st Grade Engineer License preferred
Certified Plant Operator preferred; TASBO Cleaning Standards
