About the Role :

The Family Support Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of families and children in need of assistance. This position focuses on providing comprehensive support through case management, ensuring that families receive the necessary resources and services to thrive. The specialist will conduct needs assessments to identify challenges faced by families and develop tailored intervention plans. By collaborating with various stakeholders, including social services and mental health professionals, the specialist will facilitate access to essential services such as foster care and crisis intervention. Ultimately, the goal is to empower families, promote stability, and foster a nurturing environment for children.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Associate's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Experience in case management or social services, particularly in child welfare.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Certification in crisis intervention or mental health first aid.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify the specific challenges and requirements of families.
  • Develop and implement individualized case management plans that address the unique needs of each family.
  • Coordinate with social services, mental health providers, and other community resources to ensure families receive comprehensive support.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to families in urgent need, offering immediate assistance and guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of case progress and outcomes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Skills :

    The required skills in case management and social services are essential for effectively assessing family needs and developing appropriate intervention strategies. Knowledge of child welfare practices ensures that the specialist can navigate complex situations involving children and families. Skills in crisis intervention are utilized daily to provide immediate support to families facing urgent challenges, helping to stabilize their situations. Additionally, a strong understanding of mental health resources allows the specialist to connect families with necessary therapeutic services. Demonstrating the necessary attitudes, such as empathy and resilience, is vital in building trust and rapport with families, ultimately leading to more successful outcomes.
