Job Description
This histotechnologist position involves processing small gastrointestinal biopsies in a pathology laboratory within the office of an outstanding, caring group of physicians. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and be able to get along well with other staff, even in a busy and occasionally high-stress environment. The team member should be able to work independently with minimal supervision (although troubleshooting support is always available from an excellent team of lab specialists who are histotechs themselves) and should be able to work efficiently with attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:
- Grossing and processing an average maximum of 50 biopsy specimens/day for routine microscopic analysis
- Embedding & microtomy
- Hand-staining of slides & coverslipping
- Maintaining accurate daily and monthly logs for temperature, reagents, safety and equipment maintenance to ensure compliance with all CLIA regulations
- Troubleshooting issues that arise, such as with microwave processor, H&E and special stain quality, microtome and coverslipper
- Keeping inventory of lab supplies and ensuring timely routine preventative maintenance of all equipment

- Competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs and internal laboratory systems
Additional Requirements:
- Abide by all HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA guidelines and laws.
- Maintain annual HIPAA and Bloodborne pathogen certification
- Keep licensing up to date (if applicable)
- Follow proper procedure for disposal of laboratory waste.
Education:
Clinical education in a Histology Technician School (HT) program accredited by NAACLS or 1 year experience preferred.
Associates in a Laboratory Science or Bachelor of Science with minimal 24 combined chemistry and biology credits, per CLIA Guidelines §493.1489 for high complexity testing personnel required. College transcript verification is required.
Experience:
1 year experience in a histology laboratory performing embedding and microtomy.
Licensure:
HT(ASCP), HTL(ASCP) or eligible preferred.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
