Job Description
We are looking for a histology tech to fill this position. This team member will display strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills to ensure an effective lab environment. Team member will maintain a competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs and internal laboratory systems.

Responsibilities:
- Grossing specimen
- Accessioning specimen
- Embedding & microtomy
- Slide staining & coverslipping
- Demonstrate knowledge of quality safety and compliance programs.
- Trouble shoot laboratory challenges: processor issues, stain optimization, microtome adjustments, coverslipper maintenance.
- Supply inventory
Skills:
- Possess a wide range of knowledge of histology laboratory techniques.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to file slides or cassettes appropriately.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent knowledge of microtomy and embedding techniques.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work as a team member and possess a positive attitude, even in high stress situations.
- Focused and well-organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Requirements:
- Abide by all HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA guidelines and laws.
- Keep annual training such as HIPAA and Bloodborne certificates up to date.
- Keep licensing up to date (if applicable)
- Maintain routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and document appropriately.
- Follow proper procedure for disposal of laboratory waste.
Education:
*Must have a Florida clinical laboratory personnel license.
Clinical education in a Histology Technician School (HT) program accredited by NAACLS.
High Complexity qualifications: An earned associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution OR education/training to the above that includes at least 60 semester hours. This education must include 24 semester hours of science courses that includes 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
Experience:
1 year experience in a histology laboratory performing embedding and microtomy.
Licensure:
FL state clinical laboratory personnel license, HT(ASCP), HTL(ASCP).
