The mission of Historic Augusta, Inc. is to preserve historically or architecturally significant structures and sites in Augusta and Richmond County, Georgia. Offices are located in the historic Joseph R. Lamar Boyhood Home, at 415 Seventh Street in downtown, Augusta. Historic Augusta also owns and operates the Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson, at 419 Seventh Street, as a house museum.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher in event management, marketing, hospitality, public relations or related fields. A degree is not required when practical experience working with a public or nonprofit agency can be demonstrated to show proficiency in the requisite skills and duties. Experience with event planning, marketing and fund-raising are highly desirable talents. The successful applicant will ideally have a special interest and some knowledge of local history and architecture. A familiarity with the interrelationships among similar organizations and agencies in the Augusta community would be helpful.
Skills: Important skills include communication, writing, public relations, networking, diplomacy, ability to manage various projects at once. Volunteer management is integral to the job. High organizational skills are essential. Familiarity with essential software applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Pro, and Canva. Ability to update websites will be required. Use of digital photography is required, including organization of photos. This can be with a cell phone if it can produce high resolution photos.
Duties:
- Annual and Special Events management and coordination.
- Communication through print, electronic, and social media.
- Development, sponsorship cultivation, grant writing and administration.
- Affinity group participation.
- Coordinate with staff Marketing Director.
- Assist the Executive Director and other staff as needed.
This is a full-time position under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director. Benefits shall be in accordance with the Personnel Policy of Historic Augusta, Inc. All new employees are subject to a three-month trial period.
Salary: Commensurate experience (35-40 K is typical)
