The Senator John Heinz History Center, the largest museum in Pennsylvania dedicated to history and an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is seeking a Full-time, Chief of Security to take the lead in the monitoring and execution of all security procedures.
This position oversees the History Centers Security staff and is responsible for ensuring the safety, security and well-being of the History Centers contents, staff and patrons. The Chief of Security operates security systems and takes the lead with overall risk management, including locating, correcting and / or reporting threats of all kinds to the organization. The Chief of Security serves as the lead investigator in matters relating to theft, damage, injuries, threats to staff and/or guests.
The Chief of Security assesses and responds to security issues and incidents in a timely manner, rectifying problems and following up with appropriate action. The Chief of Security shall serve as Incident Commander as directed in the Heinz History Center, Emergency Response Plan.
The Chief of Security is expected to maintain a working knowledge of the History Centers exhibits, programs, and emergency response protocols. The successful candidate will stay current with Best Practices and will be responsible for coordinating on-going training for the Security staff, as well as others throughout the History Center, to handle or assist in emergency situations, day to day operations as well as policies, procedures and the delivery of exceptional customer service. The Chief of Security is expected to coordinate, and lead when appropriate, all safety related staff trainings, i.e. AED/CPR, emergency preparedness, etc.
This is a full-time, Department Head position reporting to the Vice President & CFO.

College or associates degree preferred and a minimum of 5 years security experience and Act 33 / 34 clearances. Must have experience supervising and leading a team. This position requires extreme attentiveness with the security monitors, alarms, and execution of security procedures ensuring the safety of the patrons during late evening events, evening/night staff, facilities, and other facility contents. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is desired. This position is moderately physically demanding. This position requires the ability to be both a multi-team player as well as function independently with a lot of self-motivation. The successful candidate will have exemplary customer service skills, the ability to multi-task and remain calm in emergency situations. The Chief of Security must be available to work all shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
