What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at Hit Play?
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the engineering, staffing, equipment allocation, and technical specifics for small to large scale AVL systems in entertainment, corporate, house-of-worship, and government environments while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. The Production Manager should manage the existing inventory and staffing system, assist with equipment protection protocol and maintenance procedures, and provide learning and development opportunities for team members. The Production Manager reports directly to the President of the company.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- 10 years experience with Audio, Video and Lighting systems
- 2 year(s) experience as a production manager, promoter rep, or event coordinator in a corporate and/or entertainment environment.
- 3-5 years of supervisor experience with a crew of 10 staff members and/or contractors.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record for team members that may operate Company vehicles.
Preferred:
- University or Technical College Degree.
- Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certificate.
- ETCP rigging certificate.
- Event Safety Alliance (ESA) training.
- Vectorworks training and experience.
- d&b Audiotechnik SL-Series training.
- Dante Level 2 certificate.
Key Job Responsibilities
Sales Support
Providing sales support for account managers in new, qualified business opportunities, the Production Manager is responsible for aiding in the preparation of material takeoffs and labor estimates on small to large scale projects. This person processes detailed breakdowns of components and elements of estimates for systems. Administration as required including various Pre-Sales, Planning, Implementation, and Closing Activities.
Equipment Operation, Security and Maintenance
Ensures a flawless event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of AVL equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section. Understands the technology being used for each job and demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues. Handles equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
Supervises security, inventory, transportation and maintenance of equipment (ie. audio, visual, rigging, lighting, etc.) through a system of software and procedures. Ensures all employees are properly trained in all areas.
Customer Service
Strives to exceed the expectations and needs of the client and their guest(s). Maintain a positive relationship with the client through effective communication. Meets with client virtually and/or onsite to ensure that their needs are met, and the equipment setup is working properly. Monitors event(s) and checks in on client and their guests throughout the event. Understands and fosters the Hit Play client relationship.
Maintain a department-wide, “A” average event survey record.
People Management
Maintains a positive environment for all team members. Manages performance, addresses employee concerns, maintains adequate staffing levels, and facilitate team development. Leads by example in portraying a polished, professional image.
Systems Knowledge
Understands company processes, follows procedures and completes system entry and paperwork accurately. Utilizes the equipment software to determine the equipment scheduled for set up and for strike. Interacts with client and their staff for equipment needs.

Additional Information
Team members will be in contact with high-end AVL equipment and electrical components and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Team members may work in multiple locations including medical facilities where procedures will be viewable on preview monitors. Working times include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Position will require team member to travel within the market as the schedule dictates.
