This position is focused as the primary technician for dedicated sites to standardize, calibrate, and ensure metrology compliance for all production equipment. The in-house calibration support is a collaboration with Engineering and Metrology departments. This role will monitor and maintain the calibration systems via standard equipment methodology practices.
Tools and Equipment:
General computer equipment, camera, lab equipment, and other testing instruments related to testing machines or instruments
Materials:
Tools, fixtures, gages, and calibration equipment to include but not limited to: Thermocouple calibration controllers, thermocouples. Assorted pressure gage controllers and pressure gages production equipment
Direction of Others:
Perform calibration technician training certificates on in-house instruments and machines.
Working Procedure:
The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor:
Previous experience using measuring tools and calibration equipment.
Must be able to understand basic and advanced Metrology fundamentals.
Must be able to identify production and machine equipment components for proper calibration and labelling.
Must be able to use a computer and have experience with Microsoft Office environment.
Must be able to communicate with internal stakeholders and external vendors as required.
Requires sufficient strength and physical dexterity to maneuver around and to equipment components, with ability to lift 50 lbs.
Must be familiar with and adhere to ISO9001/TS16949/AS9100 standards.
Must have excellent communication skills and possess the ability to communicate verbally and through written correspondence across multiple functions and departments.
Comprehends technical requirements as outlined on current work instructions.

High school diploma or GED

- Calibrate standard measuring and test equipment as well as dedicated gages and fixtures to meet Hitchiner, customer, equipment, and NIST requirements.
- Using calibrated measuring equipment, preform calibration on all required production equipment in each manufacturing facility.
- Work to identify gaps in current production equipment calibration and bring into scheduling and calibration standard.
- Observe calibration activities to determine operating procedure and detail for training documentation
- Assure compliance to ISO, TS, etc. requirements. Effectively support and follow policies and procedures.
- Handle subcontractor certification and calibration and calibration of specialist test equipment if unable to be performed in-house.
- Complete all paperwork associated with the jobs completed and correctly maintain all calibration schedules, forms, and instruction sheets.
- Inform your supervisor about problems that occur.
- Mentor development of new technicians for new or added calibration techniques.
- Work with Product and Process engineering to assist with instrument evaluation and procedures to set tolerance methods and ranges. This is a collaborative goal to how to best monitor the performance of the machine within the parameters needed. Once this established the methodology will be set for sustainability.
- Assist and be present when internal audits and ISO9001/TS16949/AS9100 audit are scheduled.
- Proficient in the use of IQMS ERP systems specific to quality module.
- Ability to multi-task within metrology department and complete working assignments on schedule.
- Work with co-workers to review, evaluate, and solve calibration issues or changes and follow the Hitchiner SPMs and procedures to preserve customer compliance.
- Review and modify as needed relevant metrology and process documents and collaborate with document SPAs should changes be required.
- Effectively maintain the certification system to maintain compliancy to Hitchiner standards, customer requirements, NADCAP, and held certifications
- Work with the department Supervisors for annual review of outside vendor cost and savings for the next year.
- Develop and maintain in-house calibration training on specific instruments and machines for calibration compliance.
- Must follow all safety requirements of job as outlined on the job safety card
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Complete all paperwork associated with the job. Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets
- Maintain a clean and orderly working environment
- Inform your supervisor about problems that occur
- May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required. Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately. Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance.
