Position Summary
The Prevention Navigator will work closely with the Prevention Manager in the implementation of BIPOC HIV prevention interventions targeting BIPOC and PWID communities. The position manages agency outreach to BIPOC, PWID and other high-risk populations. The Prevention Navigator will work with other prevention staff to provide testing, including onsite and offsite testing and testing events, and develop program policies and procedures. This position will supervise volunteers both in agency and offsite. In addition, the Prevention Navigator will be trained to provide HIV client-centered counseling, needle exchange services, and present to community groups on issues of HIV/AIDS, especially as they pertain to BIPOC communities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Conduct outreach online, in community sex environments, and at LGBTQ related events to
BIPOC gay and bisexual men, offering safer sex supplies and making referrals to our services, and services provided by community partners;
Data entry and management for CTRS and Evaluation Web;
Training and supervision of volunteers and interns; and
Help foster community involvement, support and effective collaboration;
Ensure implementation of policies and procedures;
Provide HIV and HCV testing and screening;
Keeping meaningful data concerning services and using that data in ongoing program Development and evaluation;
Acts as liaison and HIV prevention advocate to community groups and coalitions;
Participate on all required agency teams and committees;
Solicit client feedback on a regular basis and use that feedback in ongoing program development and evaluation;
Advocate for needed services and future direction of these services;
Model and encourage community collaborations in all programs;
Stay current on HIV prevention (interventions, stats, etc).
Required Qualifications
One-year experience working with marginalized, underserved populations, or related education/training
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including regular evenings and some weekends.
Comfortable discussing sex, drug use, and HIV/AIDS.
Knowledge of the unique issues affecting high-risk communities, especially BIPOC communities, and willingness to learn about culturally relevant interventions for gay and bisexual men, people who inject drugs and people living with HIV/AIDS.

Familiarity using Word, Excel, Microsoft Access, and Power Point.
Valid Oregon Driver's license, or valid out of state driver's license with the ability to get an Oregon Driver's license within 30 days of establishing residency in Oregon, and a driving record sufficient to be covered by agency auto insurance policy.
Ability to pass agency criminal background check

Ability to build and maintain bridges between HIV Alliance and its clients, other non-profit
agencies, governmental entities, key community influencers
Team player who is self-motivated and enthusiastic about harm reduction & collaboration
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required
Repetitive use of hands such as grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity necessary to perform various clerical duties, such as typing and writing.
Frequent use of arms such as pushing and pulling to open and close drawers and cabinets
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time at an assigned station
Ability to bend, stand, and reach to be able to transport clients and to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds (harm reduction kits, naloxone kits, testing and education materials)
Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of paperwork
