The Opportunity
Hively is seeking a passionate and skilled part-time Grant Writer to support our fundraising efforts and expand our impact in Alameda County. This role will play a vital part in securing funding from foundations and government sources. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer, detail-oriented, and passionate about Hively’s mission.
While most of the work can be done remotely, this is a hybrid role that may require travel to the office as needed. It is a part-time position, typically between 10 and 20 hours per week (up to 30 during busier seasons).
What you will do :
- Research and identify grant opportunities that align with Hively’s mission and programs
- Collaborate with the CEO and VP of Communications and Development to develop grant strategies and prioritize funding opportunities
- Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs), application narratives, and budgets, while collaborating with development, program, finance staff, and the CEO
- Manage the grant application process, including submissions and tracking deadlines
- Assist with grant reporting submissions in partnership with the Grant Manager
- Maintain a master calendar of grants, prospects, and associated files and correspondence
- Maintain a library of essential grant support documents, including resumes, bios, IRS forms, and board / staff diversity lists
- Explore and leverage AI tools to enhance grant writing efficiency while maintaining a personal touch.

Salary ranges are based on industry data, and final employment offer will be determined based upon factors including but not limited to an applicant's experience, specialized skills, and internal alignment.
