Minister with Children, Tweens, & Families
Hixson United Methodist Church seeks a passionate and dedicated full-time Minister of Children, Tweens, & Families to lead and grow our dynamic children’s ministry. This leader will partner with our staff and church leadership to creatively bring our mission and vision to life—helping children, tweens, and their families deepen their faith and connection to Christ.
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a heart for ministry, a passion for nurturing young disciples, and the ability to inspire and equip volunteers. This role involves developing and implementing engaging programs for children from birth through the tween years, fostering opportunities for prayer, presence, gifts, service, and witness to enrich their spiritual journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and overseeing age-appropriate ministries for birth to preschool, early elementary, and tweens that foster spiritual growth.
- Cultivating and supporting a strong team of volunteers to ensure a thriving, sustainable ministry.
- Creating innovative and engaging activities that spark enthusiasm and deepen faith.
- Collaborating with church leadership to align children’s ministry with the broader mission of Hixson UMC.
We are looking for an experienced leader who loves God, is passionate about children and tweens, and can energize and equip young people and adults to grow in faith together.

Qualifications & Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through personal faith and spiritual maturity.
- A degree in a relevant field, such as Church Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Education, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years experience in Leadership in children’s ministry or a similar role.
- Strong leadership and recruitment skills, with the ability to identify, equip, and mentor volunteers and adult leaders.
- A passion for nurturing children’s faith, guiding them toward a deeper understanding of their identity as children of God and followers of Jesus.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing engaging, age-appropriate ministry programs that emphasize prayer, presence, gifts, and service.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency with technology, utilizing digital tools to enhance ministry effectiveness.
