JOB SUMMARY:
The Utilities Division is looking for a Craftwork/Termination Journeyman responsible for leading and supporting utility projects by installing and maintaining key electrical components per project specifications. This role requires a skilled and safety-oriented professional, capable of working on a variety of electrical systems, including streetlights, URD transformers, and overhead/underground wiring.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Remove, replace, and install URD transformers, J-boxes, and secondary enclosures.
· Install and remove overhead and underground primary and secondary risers.
· Perform splicing and troubleshoot secondary electric cables and occasional primary cables.
· Install and repair secondary streetlight cables.
· Set and remove poles (wood and steel) and install new streetlights.
· Operate overhead to underground primary switches.
· Occasionally climb poles and work out of a bucket truck as needed.
· Collaborate with other craft crews and assist the management team in meeting deadlines.
· Follow all safety policies and guidelines set by HJD Capital Electric.
· Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered on the job site.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
· 1 years of experience as a Journeyman on overhead and underground utility electric systems.
· Reliable form of transportation.
· Able to size wire, read drawings, and interpret blueprints.
· Proficient in making up URD transformers, on both high and low voltage side.
· Able to operate and work out of a bucket truck.
· Experience climbing poles.
· Experience working outdoors in extreme weather conditions (heat and cold).
· Able to work storm work as needed.
· Physical capability to carry up to 50 lbs. and perform manual labor.
· Willingness to learn and attend trainings to gain valuable knowledge and skills.
· Strong leadership and communication skills.
· Strong attention to detail and initiative to seek additional tasks when needed.
· Must have a safety-first mindset to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
· Preferred: JATC certified or Journeyman Electrician License in the State of Texas.
· Preferred: Valid CDL holder.
