Overview: Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Military Behavioral Health Child Provider to participate in developing and delivering the ongoing DoD Child Collaboration Study. This position acts as a subject-matter expert on the project and provides expertise for training and education products. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. This position will support the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) based in Bethesda, MD. The Military Behavioral Health Child Provider assists with activities related to CDP’s mission, which is to lead the development of a community of culturally mindful and clinically competent providers through the delivery of high-quality training and education, the convening of experts, and the dissemination of research-based treatment and the latest topics in military behavioral health. The provider will have expertise in youth with mental health, emotional, developmental, and behavioral concerns derived from a scholarly understanding of research and supplemented by experience with direct clinical intervention with youth. Direct experience with military youth and families is desirable. Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) provides administrative and management support to the Center. CDP strives to be the central hub for the Military Health System (MHS) in the development and implementation of training and education to clinicians in order to ensure that all service members, veterans, and their families receive quality behavioral healthcare that meets their unique needs. Responsibilities: Serve as a subject matter expert assisting in the development of web-based/asynchronous and in-person training and consultation relevant to the Center for Deployment Psychology’s DoD Child Collaboration Study. Engage in critical activities, including frequent, comprehensive literature reviews; critique of scholarly work to identify the most rigorous contributions to a specified topic; and synthesizing and integrating the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture (to include military culture), and preferences, such that the candidate can develop and provide training and consultation that is empirically sound as well as culturally competent, inclusive and accessible across a wide variety of contexts. Make necessary changes, additions, and updates to educational materials as needed. Apply knowledge in research methodology and dissemination to support the development of new research initiatives, support existing research activities, and contribute to preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed outlets. Consult with DoD Child Collaboration partners/collaborators to ensure evidence-based therapy and telehealth practices are understood and utilized with fidelity. Work with a team to provide input, expertise, and on-site facilitation assistance during convening events and conferences focused on the behavioral health and developmental needs of military youth and families. In this role, engage in networking and collaboration with other professionals. Facilitate working group efforts extending from these convening events and collaborative project efforts. Provide training and consultation on military culture or other evidence-based behavioral health practices to civilian and/or military audiences. Work with the larger CDP team of instructors and administrative staff to coordinate training/consultation schedules and to develop new training material as needed. Contributes as a CDP subject matter expert to blog posts, podcasts, videos, infographics, asynchronous training materials, and other additional educational activities as needed. Promote providers’ use of these resources through outreach communications and other community-building/networking activities. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role. Qualifications: Education and Experience Doctoral degree required. Preference for degrees in Social Work, Counselling, and Psychology. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience required. Specialization in child behavioral health preferred. Experience or exposure to Military health systems preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to diagnose and treat psychological problems of all complexities. Familiarity with the military medical system is desirable. The incumbent must have graduate level training and extensive post degree experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating youth psychiatric disorders. Excellent general communication skills including writing appropriate reports, articles, white papers, and providing presentations to large audiences. Knowledge of the research literature relevant to military deployment, military culture, telehealth, other aspects of military life and implementation science is preferred. Familiarity with aspects of appropriate military-specific and DoD policies and established military family and child services/programs is desirable. Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust/CAC. Licenses and Certifications Active clinical behavioral health license to practice within the US. Work Environment This position will take place primarily in an office setting. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods. Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $88,600.00-$135,000/year. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final salary will be determined based on market analysis, experience, and education. Some HJF employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
