Commercial Real Estate Paralegal

HJH Investments is seeking a paralegal as a full-time addition to our team.  This is a great opportunity for someone looking for schedule flexibility in a fun, team-centric environment. Please note: This is a hybrid position for our Southfield, MI office - Only candidates in the Detroit area will be considered.

• Document Preparation & Review: Draft, review, and organize legal documents, including leases, purchase agreements, loan documents, and closing binders.
• Title & Survey Work: Order, review, and summarize title commitments, title policies, and surveys to identify encumbrances and potential issues.
• Due Diligence: Conduct research on properties, including zoning laws, environmental reports, and corporate ownership structures.
• Closing Coordination: Assist with commercial real estate closings by preparing closing checklists, coordinating with all parties, and ensuring proper execution of documents.
• Lien & UCC Searches: Conduct Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and lien searches to verify the status of encumbrances on the property.
• Entity Formation & Filings: Assist with the formation of LLCs, corporations, and other business entities involved in commercial real estate transactions.
• Lease Administration: Prepare lease abstracts, amendments, and summaries for commercial tenants and landlords.
• Compliance & Regulatory Research: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal real estate laws.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who:

• Strong knowledge of real estate law and transaction procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Experience with document management systems.
• Paralegal certification or equivalent experience in commercial real estate law.
• Is an excellent collaborator and communicator, both written and verbal.
• Is self-disciplined and exercises good judgment.
• Is motivated with a desire to learn and grow within this role and the organization.
