Position Overview:
This is a hybrid position in the Detroit, MI Metro Area. We are seeking a law student to join our legal team as a Legal Intern. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in commercial real estate law, including transactions, contract negotiations, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in real estate law, excellent research and writing skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and revising real estate contracts, leases, and agreements.
- Support due diligence efforts for property acquisitions and dispositions, including reviewing title reports and surveys.
- Assist in preparing documents for real estate closings, transactions and leasing.
- Research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations affecting commercial real estate.
- Collaborate with attorneys on risk assessments and compliance matters.
- Participate in meetings with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders.
- Provide general support to the legal and real estate team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current law student (1L, 2L, or 3L) at an accredited law school.
- Strong interest in real estate law, business transactions, and property development.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Ability to analyze contracts and identify key legal issues.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Previous experience in real estate, contracts, or transactional law (preferred but not required).
- Ability to work 20-30 hours per week
- Internship to begin in summer with an open end date that could extend into the next school year.
