Overview:

A recognized practitioner who collaborates with the project team on overall effort of completing various design projects. Responsible for delivering exceptional design and delivery for clients on time and on budget. Collaborates on the development of design throughout design development and construction drawings. Coordinates with design talent across the firm to elevate the quality of work overall. Teaches and mentors staff and effectively embodies and expresses the firm's values and mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with senior designer(s) and project team on conceptual designs, presentations, design development and implementation documents
  • Leads and may provide guidance to team on project design for assigned project, developing creative design concepts and expanding on concepts of others
  • Collaborates to establish the vision and sets project goals with the senior designer, project team and client
  • Develops and applies computational design work plan, implementation strategy, and schedules for supporting staff
  • Ensures reliability and efficacy of computational workflow objectives
  • Develops design solutions based on industry standard construction techniques and engineering principals to support design effort and develop client relationships
  • Collaborates on the development of and may modify and/or review graphic presentations, 3D rendering and implementation documents to incorporate the design intent
  • Organizes and delivers project design presentations to client user group or public forum
  • Coordinates with consultants, contractors, fabricators, furniture dealers and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives; collaborates on project details with consulting design or engineering firms
  • Assists in resolving complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions to maintain goals and objectives of projects
  • Works with senior designer or PM to manage client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
  • Prepares schematic land and site planning models and drawings with graphic content to convey ideas, methodologies and approaches for marketing and proposal requests
  • Works closely with design team and assists to deliver various projects on time and within budget
  • Compiles data and analytics to evaluate alignment with targeted design objectives
  • Performs and coordinates product research; assists senior designers with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selections
  • Assists project teams as needed in all stages of design, documentation and fabrication
  • Participates in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines
  • Travel will be required

Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  • Accredited advanced degree in Architecture or related field, MSc preferred
  • Typically, 10 years of experience

Licenses and Certifications

  • Architectural registration strongly preferred
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced - expert-level experience, knowledge or skills

Intermediate - experience, knowledge or skills required to produce high-quality solutions or work

Basic - familiar with primary concepts or capabilities and can perform elementary functions

  • Advanced skills in Rhino, Grasshopper and Dynamo or Rhino Inside required
  • Intermediate skills in Revit required
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Python, C#, C , CUDA, Typescript required
  • Intermediate to Advanced ability to construct, navigate, and manipulate complex data structures.
  • Basic knowledge of Visual Studio and/or similar IDE for plug-in development preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with graduate or post-graduate advanced simulation or fabrication methods preferred
  • Intermediate experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy required
  • Basic skills in Twinmotion, Enscape or other visualization tools required; intermediate preferred
  • Basic experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign required; intermediate preferred
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite required; advanced preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of materials, construction techniques, building codes and QA/QC process required; intermediate preferred
  • Advanced presentation, graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas required
  • Intermediate knowledge of the processes of design, documentation, fabrication and construction of complex projects and their impact on the built environment required
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines required
  • Advanced presentation, graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas required
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time required
  • Intermediate ability to work iteratively across a variety of project typologies and among multiple BIM platforms required
  • Intermediate ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationship required
  • Intermediate ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing required
  • Intermediate ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions required
  • Intermediate ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment required
  • Intermediate ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality required

Base Salary Range: $120k - $175k annually- New York City, and Chicago, and Washington DC locations only
