Overview: Our Chicago office is seeking a Summer Intern to join our team. As an intern at HKS, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to our architecture and interior design projects, work alongside experienced professionals, and gain valuable real-world experience. HKS Chicago summer interns participate in a unique Summer Internship Experience– combining hands-on project work, interdisciplinary research, and a collaborative design charrette with local industry peers. From your home base at the HKS Chicago Living Lab, you will have access to a global expertise network & the city-at-large as you take on today’s pressing design challenges. Responsibilities: Supports the project team to modify documents and drawings with mentorship and detailed instructions regarding tasks and expected results Performs architectural assignments within given parameters alongside respective project team Assists with the preparation of presentations and performing basic analytical tasks for team/client review as needed Helps compile data and conducts research for the project team Collaborates with team members and may work on multiple projects Participates in officewide initiatives and/or intern specific projects with presentations to peer group Performs work in a manner that demonstrates an appreciation for the firm’s cultural norms, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning and growth Becomes skilled in fostering and maintaining a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team Fosters awareness of the firm’s principles of ‘design excellence’ in the integration of responsible and sustainable design practice with the art of design Qualifications: Currently earning a professional degree from an Architecture program; accredited program preferred Entry-level emerging professional on the path to Architectural licensure Working knowledge of Revit or other BIM drafting and presentation tools including Rhino3D, SketchUp, Lumion, etc. Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing Ability to work in team environment Ability to effectively meet deadlines Please submit your resume and portfolio detailing your interest in the internship.
