What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Research Intern position at HKS?
Overview :
Under close supervision, performs assignments receiving specific and detailed
instruction as to tasks required and results expected. The intern is integrated into a multi-disciplinary R&D team to participate in as much of the process as possible. The design research intern will be focused on mapping data locations, organizing and cleaning data, creating a record of data types and transformations, and other data hygiene activities. Role can include building dashboard prototypes for reporting data insights.
Responsibilities :
- Supports interdisciplinary project teams through various research tasks
- Helps collect and compile data on multiple research studies
- Assists in quantitative and / or qualitative data analysis
- Conducts data cleaning, preparation and organization for analysis
- Documents data preparation processes and analysis methods
- Conducts literature reviews on research topics related to building performance and impact measures as needed
- Assists with the preparation of presentations and other visual communication tasks as needed
- Works on multiple projects and collaborates with team members
- Participates in officewide initiatives and / or intern specific projects for presentations to peer group
- Performs work in a manner that demonstrates an appreciation for the firm's cultural norms, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning and growth
- Becomes skilled in fostering and maintaining a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team
- Fosters awareness of the firm's principles of 'design excellence' in the integration of responsible and sustainable design practices anchored in the art and science of design
- Develops understanding of the financial implications of overhead and chargeable time, including accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate
Qualifications :
Rate : $18 - $27 hourly - applies to New York and Washington D.C. locations only
