Summary :
The Boiler operator / technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, inspection, maintenance, repair of industrial boilers and Solvent Recovery Process (SRP). Maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations while minimizing downtime. Will operate as backup to HVAC Technician.
Responsibilities :
- Work directly with supervisor on a daily basis to prioritize projects and complete assigned work as instructed in established timeframes
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on boilers and associated equipment, and piping systems, burners, SRP associated equipment and HVAC units including cleaning and replacing parts as needed
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, service and repair log, including performance metrics such as pressure, temperature, and water levels and perform preventative checks on equipment, and promote efficiency
- Leverage mechanical skills and systems knowledge to keep boilers functioning properly and ensure the safety of business
- Conduct combustion analysis and burner adjustments to optimize fuel efficiency
- Test safety devices, valves, and controls for proper function
- Mechanical rebuilds (dust collection, gear boxes, pneumatic / hydraulic cylinders)
- Check equipment regularly to ensure normal operating activities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASME, NBIC codes and standards
- Minor building maintenance
- Work in teams with other technicians to respond to emergency breakdowns and restore operations quickly
- Collaborate and coordinate with HVAC technicians for overlapping maintenance activities
- Support Utility Engineering Department with projects
- Coordinate inventory and ordering of parts, tools, materials for routine projects and to maintain stock
- Conduct on-the-job training and recommend additional training needs as warranted
- Complete all safety training, policies and procedures as company required
- Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards :
