Summary:
This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing utility equipment and components to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency. Perform preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain HVAC systems including the equipment, duct work and clean/dry room equipment
- Maintaining process supporting equipment such as mixers, coater ovens, dust collectors, activated carbon filters, hot oil boilers, regenerative thermal oxidizers, chillers, boilers, AHU’s, as well as various other processing supporting equipment
- Understand the equipment programming and be able to alter temperatures and simple programming
- Coordinate with outside sources to schedule maintenance for more complex issues
- Monitor HVAC and room conditions for optimal production
- Collaborate and coordinate with boiler technician for overlapping maintenance activities
- Provide support to the Utility Engineering team with projects
- Work in teams with other technicians to respond to emergency breakdowns and restore operations quickly
- Contact manufacturers to perform warranty work on the equipment
- Be responsible for properly maintaining areas with Clean and Dry Room ratings
- Maintains proficiency with the Building Management System (BMS) and makes recommendations to the UT manager on upgrades to maintain efficient operations
- Report to the Mechanical Engineer on mechanical equipment issues
- Convey building characteristics and existing mechanical systems and capabilities
- Strategize effective start and stop optimization of equipment
- Works with other maintenance workers/staff to resolve maintenance problems
- Coordinate inventory and ordering of parts, tools, materials for routine projects to maintain inventory
- Ensure work is completed in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment
- Ensure compliance with local HVAC codes and environmental regulations

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Vocational Certificate (HVAC) required or Associates Degree or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience:
- 1 years of related work experience required
Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the installation and repair of a wide variety of HVAC and control systems.
- Ability to work entire building needs i.e. (heat loss, heat loads, and solar gains) and existing HVAC conditions to identify systemic or engineering issues
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend building plans, wiring, diagrams and schematics
- Ability to prioritize work schedules, communicate effectively with staff, identify and correct problems
- Considerable knowledge of tools and techniques used in maintenance and repair of large buildings
- Effective communication skills to relay technical information to the Utility team and suppliers
