Job Purpose:
Monitor, Maintain and Improve plant fluid systems and machinery lubrication systems.
Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
- Coordination of inventory and routine ordering of products.
- Stocking inventory locations.
- Use of tools and equipment for routine and non-routine lubrication functions.
- Draining and cleaning of reservoirs.
- Mechanical modification of systems as directed to facilitate sampling and filtration, and other proactive improvements.
- Filling and maintaining level on reservoirs.
- Changing filters and breathers on reservoirs
- Operating filtration equipment.
- Grease relubrication with manual and automatic dispensing equipment
- Maintenance of dispensing equipment and automatic systems.
- Labeling and tagging reservoirs, equipment, inventory and delivery containers.
- Printing and fulfilling planned lubrication activities
- Update scheduling systems, including adding notes to system and requesting work orders for maintenance repairs and activities.
- Perform field level oil analysis, including (e.g.) Crackle, Viscosity and Blotter Test, as required.
- Schedule, collect, label and mail samples with requisite details, for analysis.
- Perform basic evaluation of oil analysis results and recommend current and future maintenance actions.
- Troubleshoot common lubrication-related procedural and equipment problems.
Qualifications:
- High School Education or GED
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Strong Work Ethic/ Team Player
Technical Competencies:
- Ability to turn on a computer and access email and/or other computer systems to check for work orders, schedule or print routes, acknowledge work orders, etc..
- Ability to operate manual or air assisted lubricant dispensing equipment.
- Ability to fill and operate a grease gun.
- Ability to cycle an automatic lubrication system and inspect for proper operation.
- Ability to select appropriate filtration media, and/or filter element by type, for a fixed or portable filter system.
- Ability to remove and replace machinery filter system elements.
- Ability to install piping and fittings for filtration and sample collection requirements.
- Ability to correctly take an oil sample.
- Ability to install and operate a portable filtration system.
- Ability to correctly check and top-up reservoirs using either automatic or manual top-up tools.
- Ability to remove covers, clean out reservoirs, and replace covers, including replacing a gasket or creating a gasket using available materials.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- A strong fundamental understanding of mechanical, hydraulic and circulating systems operation, contamination control and maintenance functions.
- Certified to operate lifting equipment (Fork Truck, Skip Hoist, Etc.)
- Certified to perform lockout-tag out procedures.
- Strong mathematical skills
- Ability to determine equipment needs based on Mechanical prints and/or documents.
Non-Technical Competencies:
- Good oral and written communication skills and good team building skills.
- Capability to work in an unsupervised position effectively.
