What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machining Production Supervisor I position at HL Mando America Corp?
Job Purpose:
To achieve consistency in all areas of measuring, machining and operator training. To oversee the Safety, Production and Quality aspects of the machining department.
Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
- Maintain adherence to all safety guidelines. Review safety performance and provide corrective actions as appropriate.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through active promotion of HL Mando Quality Policy. Ensure that the department is following established Procedures/Work Instructions/etc. Ensure that all prescribed records and documents are properly completed and maintained. Review Quality performance and provide corrective actions as appropriate.
- Accomplish 100% on-time delivery through effective daily and weekly production requirements planning based on G-MES 3.0 E-Kanban managing plan set by PC department and shipping planners. Work closely with Production Control scheduling to meet daily shipping schedule.
- Achieve daily production Kanban schedule by coordinating resources and prioritizing tasks.
- Foster a proper working environment through fair, consistent, and respectful treatment of employees.
- Conduct various skills assessments and performance evaluations for assigned employees. (MSA, Operator training records, Tool Change, etc...)
- Establish employee goals based on OEE and UPH Production management goals.
- Develop/strengthen Production team through proper training, coaching, and guidance.
- Train employees on Procedures, Work Standards, Standardized Work Instructions, Quality Requirements, Safety, etc.
- Drive 5S and housekeeping activities to achieve and maintain excellence.
- Ensure participation by all team members in HPS continuous improvement plans and Problem solving activities. Able to build and complete 4 Panels and 8-D’s.

- Monitor Daily Headcount and Manning needs for Production department.
- Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, overtime assignment, and back-up for absenteeism. Report manning changes to Production Manager
- Manage time and attendance accuracy for Production department in Company Time keeping system.
- Review, report, and assess daily cell performance and other assigned metrics as appropriate on HPS Dashboard system.
- Maintain prompt and effective communication to Production group, appropriate support groups and Management for any downtime or shortage situations.
- Provide leadership to team:
- Work to develop positive attitude on shop floor.
- Work to foster a culture of ownership, passion, and a sense of urgency on shop floor.
- Instill mindset of teamwork and cooperation among team members and other departments.
- Lead by example.
- Must be able to back-up current supervisors for PTO
- Must be able to track the development of all team members and assure proper training has been provided.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This job is a full-time position. Hours of work are typically Monday through Friday on a shift that works either 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM. Supervisors are expected to arrive at work 30 minutes prior to the start of the shift to consult with off-going shift personnel and may need to stay after the shift’s end for meetings. Weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently working in an ambient temperature environment, machining coolants, lubricants, lube oils, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Machining noise level requirements are regulated ear plugs.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 Year college degree is required or 5 years’ minimum Supervisory experience. 4 Year college degree is preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership experience (i.e. Team Leader). Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds regularly.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
- Basic knowledge for Machining Field
