What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Engineer I position at HL Mando America Corp?
Job Purpose: The purpose of the Quality Assurance Engineer is to continuously improve Plant Quality through collaboration with customers and in-house manufacturing team.
Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
- Primary customer representative with responsibility and authority to ensure that customer requirements are being met.
- Manage communication with customers to provide a focal point for information on all supplied products.
- Management of all customer related Non-conformance reports through internal database (G-MES).
- Lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis (8D reports) and document corrective/preventive actions in order to reduce or eliminate defects.
- Travel to customer facilities to appraise Plant quality performance.
- Represent the Plant at customer quality meetings.
- Prepare and present relevant Quality material during internal Quality meetings.
- Coordinate the tracking, reporting and record of Customer defects.
- Lead customer product containment activities as needed.
- Manage and maintain internal Non-conformance reporting through internal database (G-MES)
- Ensure Plant is in compliance of IATF 16949 requirements.
- Represent Quality during customer visits/audits and yearly IATF Certification Audit.
- Create Quality Training Material for shop floor operators on how to improve Plant Quality.
- Regular communication with Production, Production Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality personnel/management on Plant Quality status and how to improve Quality.
- Participation in continuous improvement activities designed to reduce the cost of poor quality. (Kaizen, Task Force Teams, etc.)
- Assist in preparing PPAP/ISIR documentation.
- Cross Functional Quality Support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (manufacturing, industrial, quality) preferred. Comparable experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- 5 years of Quality Assurance in a high volume manufacturing facility is preferred.
Technical Competencies:
- Moderate knowledge of the IATF 16949 Quality Management System
- Ability to use computer programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
- Understanding of Quality Tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Pareto Charts, Control Charts, etc.

Supervisory Responsibility:
- No direct supervisory responsibility.
Position Work Schedule:
- Normal working hours for this position are Monday thru Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm. Customer demands can cause an adjustment to normal working hours. Candidate must be able to be flexible with working times.
- This position is not eligible for remote/hybrid work.
