Job Description

Install, repair, and hook up equipment for all electrical services on the ship. Lay out, pull, lift out, and install cable and conduit. Prepare work area, drill holes and grind metal surfaces, and weld mounting equipment and tests electrical equipment. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Minimum three years of Marine Electrician experience and / or four years of electrical experience. Ability to use power and hand tools and read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals required. Must have the ability to work at heights, in confined paces, and be available to work any shift. Must comprehend written and verbal instructions and hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school education / equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and procedures preferred.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and required to communicate effectively in English.

Assessment

A written test and hands-on assessment will be conducted.

Unique / Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work all shifts and at heights.
  • Must show at least two years of continuous, stable and verifiable employment.
  • Construction or manufacturing background preferred and have strong mechanical skills.
  • Frequent carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, manual dexterity, reaching, seeing, hearing, occasional kneeling, reclining and finger dexterity.
  • Maintain safety awareness and ability to follow directions.
