What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Scheduler position at HME?
Production Scheduler Summary:
The Production Scheduler will oversee the plant master schedule. This includes balancing order backlog, vehicle lead time, manufacturing capacity, while supporting efficient business throughput. This position resides within the Operations team and will interface with other departments within the value stream. The Production Scheduler further serves as a subject matter expert on resource constraint identification as well as key manufacturing and business metrics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively manage and prioritize production backlog for optimal balance
- Plan and execute production and FG inventory objectives
- Coordinate with sales, engineering, supply chain, production, and finance teams to develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling parameters based on customer requirements, product content, etc.
- Monitor and report weekly production status
- Monitor workflow and schedules to ensure on-time delivery
- Maintain key metrics reports including on time delivery, schedule attainment, lead time, throughput time, etc.
- Promote a smooth communication flow between departments preventing obstacles
- Schedule 3rd Party Testing and creation of documentation required
- Schedule Transportation of trucks to/from HME
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, training, and/or certifications
- 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing, scheduling, and inventory experience with progressively increasing responsibilities
- Able to work in a dynamic environment with several competing priorities
- General knowledge of business process flow within a custom vehicle environment
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Experience in a master scheduler production environment preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
General Physical Requirements:
- Primarily office environment with light to moderate physical work – required to exert up to 30 lbs. of force regularly, up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally. Working Conditions: this position is a combination of office and factory work environments and will occasionally be exposed to noise - loud, sharp, extended, impulse; up to, and occasionally in excess of, 85dBA (which may require the use of hearing protection), vibration - directed to hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders from the use of electric and pneumatic (impact) hand tools of varying sizes, hazards – electric current; oils and lubricants; moving mechanical parts; chemical cleaners and solvents; sharp edges on stainless steel and other components and metal shavings; airborne dust, occasional intense light from welding in work area or adjacent work areas; working on ladders, and scaffolds.
- Physical Activities, Ergonomic Considerations: this position may be exposed to standing, walking for periods of time, reaching in any direction, above and below shoulder level, sometimes lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing objects weighing up to 40 lbs., occasionally performing work in a crouched, squatting, kneeling, or stooped position (body bent forward and down (from waist) for extended periods of time.
