HMM is seeking a detail-oriented Pricing Analyst to manage ocean freight contract negotiations, ensuring alignment with company standards. The role involves providing timely rate quotes, monitoring contract performance, and generating reports. The analyst will ensure compliance with FMC regulations and adapt to changing market conditions. Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management & Negotiation: Oversee Ocean freight contract negotiations and ensure they align with company pricing strategies and standards.
- Rate Quotes & Bids: Provide timely and accurate rate quotes, preparing tailored bids for specific customers or segments, ensuring alignment with customer needs and preferences.
- Market Analysis & Strategy Optimization: Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for optimizing pricing strategies.
- Pricing Consistency: Ensure pricing consistency across regions by implementing standardized processes and procedures.
- Collaboration & Guidance: Work closely with sales teams to provide guidance on pricing strategies and support decision-making.
- Contract Performance Monitoring: Track and monitor booking activities and contract performance, ensuring KPIs for pricing and field sales are met.
- Market Adaptability: Stay informed of market conditions and adjust pricing strategies as needed to remain competitive and profitable.
- Reporting: Prepare regular and ad hoc reports to support business decisions and highlight areas for improvement.
- Compliance: Ensure all service contracts comply with FMC regulations and internal policies.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to continuous process improvement and operational success.
Required Skills & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
- 2 years in pricing analysis, contract management, or a related role within the transportation and logistics industry (ocean carriers, global logistics, or international trade (3PL) preferred.
- Requires 2 years of experience in the shipping industry or related analytical field
Essential Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a deep understanding of pricing strategies, ocean freight operations, and shipping industry terminology (freight rates, shipping lines, ports, carriers, logistics).
- Familiarity with FMC regulations, international trade laws, tariffs, and customs regulations, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools; experience with pricing and contract management systems is a plus.
- Strong data handling skills, with the ability to interpret and leverage data for pricing optimization and decision-making.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions, customer needs, and business requirements. Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, with a focus on accuracy in data management and reporting.

Additional Details:
The pay range listed for this position is the anticipated starting salary or wage range, and the final offered rate will be based on individual merit and the relative compensation of employees in similar positions. HMM employee benefits include highly subsidized individual and family insurance coverage (medical, dental and vision), term life and disability insurance, 401(k) employer matching contributions, paid holidays, and up to 10 vacation days and six sick days in the first year.
