Primary Function of the Position

The Vice President of Social Enterprise is a key member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This position is responsible for providing strategic direction, development, organization, promotion, implementation, growth, and assessment of all Social Enterprise initiatives aimed at increasing financial earnings to support HAP's nonprofit programs and funding.

This leader oversees all aspects of the organization's Social Enterprise strategy and execution. They share responsibility with the CEO for guiding key strategies, cultivating relationships, and driving business expansion in alignment with Social Enterprise goals.

As a senior leadership team member, the Vice President plays a critical role in shaping the organizations overall Social Enterprise strategy and executing its operational plans. This position provides comprehensive leadership and supervision to the Social Enterprise team, including managing staff, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, and driving impactful outcomes.

Position Responsibilities

  • Executive Leadership, Planning, Strategy, and Execution
  • Serve as a key leadership team member, working collaboratively with the CEO and other senior leaders to develop and implement the organizations strategic plan and vision for social enterprise.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Transportation Team and other Social Enterprise teams to ensure alignment with the organizations goals. Where appropriate, collaborate with and provide leadership in coordination with other HAP departments to achieve organizational objectives. Lead the transportation department's annual planning and budgeting process, ensuring that goals are specific, measurable, attainable, and relevant.
  • Provide regular updates to the CEO and Board of Directors on social enterprise progress and challenges and make recommendations for course correction.
  • Represent the organization in any required public forums and develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders and local businesses to advance the organizations mission and goals.
  • Comprehensive Development and Marketing Strategy
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to identify and cultivate areas of growth and expansion to increase revenue generation.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the social enterprise program, including current businesses and new ventures.
  • Develop and implement a marketing strategy in collaboration with the HAP Communications team to support revenue growth efforts, including creating collateral materials and growth strategies.
  • Work closely with the CEO to develop and maintain relationships with related internal and external stakeholders and team members.
  • Develop and manage systems for tracking and reporting on significant progress and success.
  • Operations and Administration
  • Develop and maintain effective systems and processes to support growth within social enterprises.
  • Develop and implement growth plans with clear goals, metrics, and timelines for individual team member development and revenue targets.
  • Build and manage a budget for all social enterprise teams that is aligned with the organizations strategic priorities and goals.
  • Identify and implement technology solutions to support financial growth and development.
  • Leadership and Supervision
  • Build and manage a high-performing social enterprise team aligned with the organizations mission, values, and strategic priorities.
  • Provide direct leadership, guidance, and mentorship to develop staffs capacity to achieve the organizations goals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the social enterprise teams and across the organization as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics and evaluation tools to ensure the teams performance meets or exceeds defined targets and organizational goals.
  • Actively participate in team building, fostering a work environment where employees center, model, and champion HAPs core values.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Advanced and demonstrated executive leadership experience required working for a mid-sized organization. Formal, informal, and cross-disciplinary experiences will be considered.
  • A demonstrated passion for the organizations mission, with a deep understanding of and commitment to its values and principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with prior experience in public speaking and external relations, and the ability to represent the organization to various stakeholders and external businesses.
  • Prior experience creating strategic multiyear plans and building stakeholder consensus to achieve revenue goals.
  • Demonstrated success in staff management and mentorship, with a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive work culture that fosters professional growth and development.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial individual with strong business development and marketing skills
  • Ability to interpret legislation and regulations and effectively implement and communicate to program staff.
  • Effective leadership style that promotes positive customer services that effectively connects the participant with the needed services.
  • Ability to achieve program management and reporting outcomes in a pro-active, timely manner
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality work products within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

Essential Functions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, phone and keyboard
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for sustained periods of time in an indoor setting
  • Ability to tolerate moderate noise levels (i.e. shared open office space with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
  • Must have the ability to move about the office to access files and office equipment
  • Must have access to reliable transportation for occasional travel for meetings at other HAP office locations, events and offsite meetings
  • Occasional moving or lifting of boxes or files up to 30 pounds
  • Frequent interactions with coworkers and participants requiring ability to communicate effectively
  • Frequent communication via email requiring ability to fluently read and write in English

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in business administration and/or other industry-related field required; MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of five years experience of increasing senior-level management position managing people and projects with demonstration of increasing responsibilities and duties, overseeing multiple teams and/or contracts, ideally at an organization serving immigrants and refugees.
  • Experience managing essential and highly confidential data with a firm understanding of donor database software and donor research platforms such as Blackbauds Raisers Edge/NXT and I Wave or Research Point.
  • Experience, ability, and commitment to working with individuals and teams mixed across lines of difference such as race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class, and immigrant status.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and cloud software e.g. Salesforce, Google Docs.
