What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surveyor in Training position at HMT Engineering & Surveying?
SUMMARY
The SIT is responsible for assisting in various surveying and mapping activities under the supervision of a licensed surveyor. The primary role will be to assist with fieldwork and data collection to support the preparation of surveys, maps, and related documents. The SIT will work closely with a team of surveyors and engineers to ensure accurate and timely completion of surveying tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in conducting field surveying using various surveying instruments
• Manage production and oversee technicians, GIS, and/or field crews
• Import points into CAD software and draw topographic features
• Prepare exhibits and legal descriptions
• Production, Project Management, and Team Management
• QA/QC
• Supervise Field Crews, CAD Technicians, and/or office administration to perform surveying tasks in the most efficient way possible
• Ensure that the technical, administrative work and schedule requirements of assigned projects are met in accordance with professional standards, design control procedures, and survey guidelines
• Assure projects are in accordance with the scope of services and budget
• Work closely with engineering staff and clients
• Monitor own efficiency and workload
QUALIFICATIONS
• 4 years’ experience
• Registered in the state of Texas as a Surveyor in Training (SIT)
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Proficient in producing survey drawings and calculations
• Effective communication skills with all levels of employees within an organization, both oral and written skills
• Effective interpersonal skills with all levels of employees within an organization as well as clients and public agency officials
• Self-starter & has the ability to work interdependently within a team environment
• Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
